Lyrics

I've locked myself away again
I see you out the window now and then
You with your car outside
I almost made it

Time isn't anybody's friend
When will you see we've reached the end
Over and over and over it seems
You've been like a stranger to me

Into my valley
Taking my land
Into my valley
Breaking the land

Please take me down there once again
No conversations one to ten
Leave me in a room with a key
Back to the edge of the sea

Into my valley
Taking my land
Into my valley
Breaking the land

[chorus repeats]

Commentary

"Perhaps the only Red Box song to be rather obviously about a relationship, Valley was the b-side of the original release of Chenko.  This means that it was recorded as the full Red Box quintet, and needless to say it's a bit hard to find.  Worth the hunt?  Definitely.  This is one of Red Box's most accessible b-sides, with an excellent arrangement and slightly subdued tone.  However, everything we love about Red Box is evident even in this early rarity, especially the riddle-like lyrics of the chorus and final verse.  Good job, all five of you."
