ANDREW
LENAHAN'S
Several songs (indicated by asterisks below) co-written by Red Box's Simon Toulson-Clarke. Produced by Ross Cullum (co-producer, single version of Lean on Me). Song Listing Under The Sign Of Cain [English version] Sotto Il Segno Di
Caino [Italian version] Commentary "Que? There's three distinctly different versions. Some of the songs are different on each version. Some of the songs are the same but translated. And none of the three CDs are likely to be as close as your neighbourhood record store. Oh, and did I mention there's a live video too? So the casual Red Box fan will be forgiven for wanting to take a siesta instead of hunting this down. Those who do will find a
very good record indeed, though certainly not one that sounds much like
Red Box. Simon's involvement doesn't extend further than
songwriting... well, co-songwriting actually, as some of these
tracks have as many as seven different writers listed. Still, Simon
makes his presence felt with interesting beats and soundscapes (as on my
personal favourite, Wako-Shaman, which mercifully pops up on all three
versions). On the rest of the album, the lyrics are often
overshadowed by the grandiose production. But somehow, it
works. Perhaps an apt metaphor for the record is the gaunt, Daedalus-like
figure on the back cover, about to fly almost--but not quite--too close to
the sun." Additional Images
